In-18 Nixie Tube Clock

SEE THE VIDEO: What's in the video: Two short clips strung together in this video: (1) Power on tube test showing the unit scrolling through 0-9 on each tube and that all numbers light up (except for showing one tube is blown "X", see description below ) followed by the display of the firmware number (1.96); then, (2) Clock showing time, then scrolling through to date (08.18.X3) and then temperature (76 F) There is no flicker in the displays, this is an anomaly of the video camera only. Display is bright and solid. Beautiful clock in every way with the largest IN-18 nixie tubes. Works fantastically well with the following exceptions : One IN-18 tube is blown (see pictures and watch the video). I had problems inserting it in the pin sockets and it is my belief that I fatally damaged the tube. The PCB circuitry is unaffected as I swapped tubes and the same position ran a different tube without issue while the "blown" tube failed to light up in a different socket where previously an earlier tube did work in that different socket, so the problem is obviously the tube. I have bent some of the pins which makes seating the nixie tubes very touchy, though all the other tubes work fine and show all digits.(See video showing power on test which scrolls through digits 0-9 on all tubes). A periodic wiggle is required to re-seat just one or two of the tubes so that all digits show every few weeks or so. This unit otherwise works flawlessly; I bought it direct from the manufacturer in Ukraine and it was delivered to me in the US on March 17, 2023, so it is less than 6 months old at this point. Keep this in mind when pricing IN-18's individually, that these have effectively almost no time on them at all. Includes the GPS receiver which automatically syncs the time to GPS satellite time (really a neat touch, works great.) Upon first plugging it in to the back panel of the unit it takes a few minutes to catch a signal and then it updates the clock and then keeps it right on time. I never had to manually set the clock time. Also nice because backup batteries now become unnecessary. Includes temperature sensor which also plugs in to the back panel and shows the temp in F or C, and surprisingly is quite accurate. I've only used it indoors, so that is my experience. Includes AC power supply adapter. I really hate to part with this unit, but I don't want to buy a replacement IN-18 at $75 a pop, and returning it to Ukraine is not an option, so I'd just as soon put it up for sale to someone who either wants to part it out, or has the technical expertise and the ready parts to put it back into shape. Overall, there really isn't that much wrong with it, and cosmetically it's a beautiful set (see all photos). Nevertheless, given the narrative above, I'm classifying this not as "Used" but as " Broken or for Parts ", even though it is not broken in the most literal sense. I don't want there to be any confusion on the part of the buyer as to what the issues are with this unit. If you buy it, you have agreed that you understand everything written above, and that you buy it "as-is" and with no returns. I want to get it in the hands of the right person and move on and try a new choice for myself. When shipped it will be packed properly but I am going to pull the tubes so nothing gets mucked up in the mail. You will have to re-seat them yourself which is challenging! You will see from the video that they all work and light up at time of sale. You will have to fiddle with the tubes to get them to properly seat and show all digits properly. If this sounds like a challenge to you, don't buy the clock. No returns! IMHO, for the amount they charge for this unit new, $1,349.95 see the item and operation manual on the manufacturer's web site at: https://gra-afch.com/catalog/nixie-tubes-clocks/nixie-tubes-clock-in-18-stone-case/ I think they could have gone a bit further in their engineering to install tube sockets rather than PCB pins, into which installation of these nixie tubes is somewhat blind under the circumstances and most difficult, especially for a shaky senior citizen such as me! End of rant!) Lower 48 US bidders only! All others thanks but no thanks. No international, no AK or HI. This unit weighs in at about 3.75 pounds and packed more than that so shipping cost will be a factor.
