An extraordinarily unusual and rare musical automaton clock. Clock in cast gilded bronze case in the form of wheeled barrel organ and an organ grinder with monkey. The organ grinder is in the hat and the frock coat, a book is on the organ top panel and a sitting monkey in the dress with corrugated collar. A window is on the front panel decorated with flower patterns, behind which is white enamel dial with hours’ designation by Roman numerals, minutes - by Arabic numerals in five divisions and with three hands: hour, minute and alarm setting. Two apertures for winding the clock and musical movement with the hands are on the rear side. The aperture with a arbor for winding musical movement is on the bottom panel. When the alarm goes off, a bell rings and once this stops it sets off the 36 tooth Swiss musical box and by means of an endless screw works the arm of the organ grinder. Once the music stops the arm of the organ grinder does too. There is a slot on the base with 1 and 2 that I believe had a lever to change the tune on the music box(it is a two tune cylinder box). The movement is regulated by a fixed pendulum. Swiss. Circa 1890. 10.5 inches high by 7.5 inches wide by 3.25 inches deep ( 26.25 cms by 18.75 cms by 8 cms). Clock is running keeping good time, Alarm working as designed and well as the Music box and Automaton but has not been serviced. Very rare musical bronze Dore' clock, I only know of two similar one in a Museum in Moscow the other was sold years ago in London.
